EDIT: I already have chosen and transferred to a new host, it's Hawkhost.com, and they're very good. Thank you to everyone who helped!!!

RANT start:
Okay, so Philhosting screwed up again majorly this December. Not only were they down for a long time, they didn't have any support whatsoever, my database and files were also rolled back to December 6! So I had to re-ftp my files, and worse, I had to also recover my files from Google's cache since I wasn't able to backup the most recent posts. A truly distressing performance from them for the new year. Not only that, but the website right now loads very slowly, and on most occassions, gets a Connection Error. Oh boy let me see them reply to my ticket as "It's probably your ISP".

To add to my distress, it looks like they have launched an unmetered bandwidth service, which may be the one eating up the connection of their non-executive plans... that's why our pages right now load painstakingly slow (if they load at all)!

Anyone help!!! If your site is hosted by another company, please tell me about it, and if the performance is good too. I've tried contacting ploghost but my email bounced back, and several pages of their site are also down including their support forum. I have also contacted Philwebservices.com, and so far their support has been good, and their sites seem to be loading fast, but I'd still like to know if anyone has any experience with them. HELP!!!

@all - a friend replied to me and recommended hawkhost.com - it's more value for your money, but I'll wait for everyone's opinions first and do some more research before buying anything.

The philhosting staff has apologized to me in the ticket, I'm glad they didn't give me the traditional "it's probably your ISP" response that they always give, and told me that someone hacked their system (eep). The website is working well right now. Kanina high blood mode ako sa sobrang bagal and errors.

Nevertheless, for sure lilipat ako, pero monitor muna ako ng performance ng ibang host.

Hi guys, I've decided to go with Hawk Host, because they have SLA's (!!!), and was relatively cheap for the bandwidth and space that they offered. I'll inform everyone if it was a good choice :)

be wary. cheap host doesnt mean good quality.

philhost terminated my account without me backing up my files and now all my emails to them are bouncing back! waaaaaaaaahhhh. that's 4 years of my files in there!

im moving to dreamhost :)

hey, i am so p'd off because my blog was rolled back to dec 7 and I have no backup of the recent posts. Any suggestions how I can get them back?

mikes6 wrote on Jan 10, '09
You know what's WORSE? Last I checked my cpanel, and that of my boyfriend's (yes, I previously recommended philhosting to him, what a big mistake)...

THEY HAVE REMOVED THE BACKUP FUNCTION IN CPANEL.

I repeat.

THEY HAVE REMOVED THE BACKUP FUNCTION IN CPANEL.

What's your domain? Here's what I did. Go to Google then search for:

cache:http://www.yourdomain.com

In my case it's

cache:http://www.gabrielarobin.com

This will show you the last front page cache of your site that Google has. If they have currently indexed the one that's been rolled back, then this may be useless.

So try something like:

2008 December site:http://www.yourdomain.com

replace 2008 and/or December with search keys if you need it. This is going to be a manual recovery of your posts, but at least you'll have something.

I decided to go with Hawk Host based on the review of my friend, their polite and quick support team, the accessibility of their website, and the fact that they are giving me more than 6 times the space and bandwidth for only double the price. They also don't overcrowd their servers unlike philhosting. I only hope that my domain is transferred as soon as possible, I'm excited to move on.

i'm an IT consultant. i just transferred my sites from this rotten company. they are the worst hosting company in the world!

here's a piece of my experience with them:
http://wilfredv.blogspot.com/2009/02/philhostingnet-worst-hosting-company.html

i transferred to FatCow Inc., they're the best! they're on the top of hosting reviews. free domain for life, unlimited space, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited site! they'll answer your support on the spot (chat if ur not in US) in very polite way. they'll even contact you when you're conversation got disconnected. talk about great support! they will resolve any issue or ticket in 24hrs max. i also have other hosting. godaddy used to be the best for me until i tried FatCow.

Ei guys, I'm already with Hawk Host, and I have only good feedback so far ;) Excellent service, and I've never experienced a downtime ever since I transferred. It was a good call.

I deleted the comments that were made for advertising their own companies. This is still a personal blog, and not a free-for-all ad space.

I transfered out my domains to godaddy.
I bought my own dedicated servers now.

goodbye philhosting! I hope you go bankrupt soon!

Once you find a good web hosting and a good discount, before ordering, do some exploring this web server. Go read the reviews and find out what others say about them. Read online reviews can reveal a lot of useful information available to companies online, and you can get a lot of information on how to treat their customers. You can also visit the forums and participate in discussions, which can reveal a lot of good information on web hosting companies.
